Have You Ever Noticed That Pres. Uchtdorf Changes His Tie During Conference? Recently President Uchtdorf explained why. He said:
“Recently a young man asked me why I often change my tie during general conference. It is kind of a family tradition that started years ago when between conference sessions, I stained my tie and worriedly searched for a replacement. Fortunately, I had one in my office. My grandsons enjoyed it so much that they changed their ties too, and since then it became almost a sport to do it.
“For our family—and I hope for yours—general conference is a special event. In addition to hearing words of counsel and testimony from living prophets and apostles, we have the opportunity to grow and learn as we spend time with one another throughout the weekend.
“Regardless of how or with whom you will watch general conference, I pray that your hearts will be touched by the messages that have been prepared to help us learn more about our Heavenly Father’s wonderful plan. I add my witness to the witness of those who will speak to us this weekend that thanks to the loving sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ, this plan of happiness is available to everyone. If you listen with your heart, you will hear the special message the Savior has for you this weekend.”
