Come Sing With The Mormon Tabernacle Choir!

Have you ever wanted to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle choir? Before now you had to be a world famous singer like Glades Knight, Jane Seymour, Sissel or the King Singers. But that has changed, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is inviting everyone to join them, as we become the world’s largest virtual Hallelujah choir!

“Calling all singers and choirs worldwide—now you can virtually join the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for an amazing rendition of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” It’s easy—check out the instructional videos below, pick your part, and upload a video of yourself to YouTube. Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, March 1.”

Do I need to be Mormon?
Everyone is invited to join in this effort to sing the praises of Jesus Christs resurrection! it does not matter if you are LDS, Catholic, Baptist or anything in between you are invited. You can also reach out to your church choir and help them upload a video. The purpose of this Easter is Christians from around the world coming together to sing praises that Jesus Christ the Messiah LIVES!

What is a Virtual choir?
It is an internet phenomenon where thousands of people record themselves singing a song, they all upload their video’s on YouTube and all of the uploads are combined into a choir! A man named Eric Whitacre started the virtual choir trend, and he is the inspiration for this Virtual Hallelujah Chorus.

This sounds fun, but I am not trained.
“For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads” (D&C 25:11–12).

It does not say the trained song or the perfect tenors song, it is the song of your heart. And due to that everyone is welcome to join the Mormon Tabernacle choir for this project. It does not matter your talent or training.

That being said, Peter Hollens and his wife Evynne Hollens who are both trained professionals have produced videos to help you sound good. For the Videos and sheet music see the Virtual Choirs web page HERE

What are the age requirements?
You must be 18 Years old to upload the video to YouTube. (or 13 with parental or guardian consent)
(YouTube Terms of Service #12)
