According to Fox News The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says the volume being released at a news conference Wednesday in Salt Lake City is a printer’s manuscript of the Book of Mormon as part of its ongoing Joseph Smith Papers project. They are doing this in conjunction with the Community of Christ church that
The Deseret News also reported that The release of “Revelations and Translations Volume 3, Part 1: Printer’s Manuscript of the Book of Mormon I Nephi 1-Alma 35,” the facsimile edition, was announced in a press conference Tuesday at the Church History Library.
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that 185 years ago, God helped Joseph Smith translate a record of an ancient civilization that were engraved on gold plates. It became known as the Book of Mormon.
This is the church’s latest step toward making available documents or clarifying the history of the church. Tuesday the church also released an essay on seership, seer stones and their use in the translation of The Book of Mormon.
