Brandon Armstrong is from Lehi, Utah and seriously impressed the judges on “So You Think You Dance” on Monday.
Nigel Lythgoe immediately recognized Brandon Armstrong from previous seasons and asked him about the previous appearances. Brandon Armstrong explained that he was a non-competing partner for Arnold back in 2012’s season 9, when he was too young to audition himself. Lythgoe gave him a note telling him to return in 2013, but while Arnold went on to “Dancing with the Stars,” Armstrong opted to go on an LDS mission.
Now that he was back from his mission serving in Arkansas, we is now back in his goal to win the competition. He was accompanied by Arnold’s sister Jensen, who was HIS non-competing partner, because she, just like he was three years ago, was not old enough to try out herself. He performed a ballroom routine that had Nigel telling the little sister to come back next year, much like he did with Brandon when he auditioned with her older sister.
Paula commented “I think you are stunning. You have so much flair and wonderful style. Very well-trained.” Jason Derulo commended the 20-year-old for knowing “how to handle your woman.” The new judge explained, “It’s a big deal when your partnered, and you have to be the man in the relationship, and you have to dominate, and that’s what you did.”
Lythgoe thought the audition was “tremendous.” “Everyone said everything,” he told Armstrong, though he did go on to give a little advice. And Arnold, who was there in person to watch the try-out, was thrilled with their success. Watch the full video below!
