Calvin Newby was diagnosed with a rare Cancer called Lipo Sarcoma. He had already had a goal of visiting 100 temples in his life. He had been living with this cancer for 4 1/2 years when the doctors told him that the cancer was terminal and had about 6 months to live. He had previously visited 86 temples and needed to visit 14 more to obtain his goal.

So the race was on. He started on this journey with his friends and family and started visiting one temple after another. Number 87 was St. Paul Minnesota
Number 88 was Bismarck, North Dakota
Here was #90 (You know what they say, the first 90 is always the hardest)

Calvin made it all the way to Denmark for #96
And then finally…after a lifetime of traveling and visiting temples around the world…he was finally able to reach #100 in Germany!!!

Calvin’s plans were to make the new Payson temple visit #101. Unfortunately he was never able to make it that long. On May 19th, 2015 at 5:00 P.M., Calvin Newby returned to his Heavenly Father. What an amazing man of inspiration for all the rest of us and how wonderful it was that he was able to live long enough to reach his goal of visiting 100 temples.
