Halloween Popcorn

Halloween Popcorn!

I wanted to make a cute Halloween treat to take to the girls that I visit teach so as I was searching for ideas I came across this recipe for Orange Creamsicle Popcorn.  Even though it is a summer recipe I thought orange+popcorn+frosting= WIN! So I went to buy all the ingredients but I could not find orange creamsicle frosting anywhere. 🙁 So here is my version of this popcorn that still tastes great and is a little more Halloween-ified! (Yes, I use this word to describe many things during the month of October!)

What you need:

Halloween Popcorn

2 bags microwave popcorn

1 can vanilla frosting

about 2 drops red and 4 drops yellow food coloring. (or just orange if you can find it.)

cooking spray

1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Heat your oven to 250°F. Coat 2 baking sheets with non-stick cooking spray. Place popped popcorn in large bowl.
  2. Remove your foil from the frosting container. Microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds. Put in your drops of food coloring until you make orange. Stir until smooth. It will be very soft so be careful not to spill it over the edge like I did!  Pour over popcorn and stir to coat evenly.

3. Spread evenly on prepared baking sheets. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until crunchy, stirring half way through. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

4. Melt your chocolate chips and then using a spoon just drizzle your chocolate all over the popcorn. Let it completely cool.

Store in an airtight container for up to one week. (Or just enjoy it all right then!)

If you want to give it away, you can get these cute little bags at Walmart which is what I did!

And I had to add one more little picture here at the end just for Halloween. Remember when I said I like to use the word Halloween-ified? Well I really meant it and one of the things I had so much fun doing this year was photo shopping a picture of my kids so that it has been Halloween-ified! I think it turned out awesome and pretty creepy!
