There are just some things every Mormon parent will understand
When our child slams their head on the wooden bench.
When the Girl Scouts come around with Thin Mints
When we see the Bishop’s wife get all 5 kids ready and on time to church.
When our teenager comes up and tells us how appreciative they really are for everything we do for them
Trying to find the binky that fell under the bench in Sacrament Meeting.
Checking in on our kids in nursery without having them see us.
How we feel after we get home from church on Fast Sundays and our kids are starving
The week before we get to leave our 18 month old in nursery for the first time.
How we actually feel leaving our child in nursery for the first time.
When our kids try to tell us what happened in church that day but we are preoccupied trying to get lunch ready for everyone
Waking up for 9 o’clock church after being up with the baby all night.
Trying to get our Sunbeams to go to their class.
#8 and #12 are the most true for me, but #9 makes no sense to me because #8 happened every week with both kids…probably because my husband was inactive with our first, so finally being free to listen in SS and RS was so welcome! And, even though he was active with our second, after the birth he deployed so I was back to being a “single parent” this time with two. Luckily for me the nursery leaders had mercy on me and let my youngest come in at 14 months old as long as she didn’t cry and was well behaved; she only cried once and didn’t misbehave. Biggest, most obvious blessing ever!
I love all the posts! You guys are spot on. Thanks for the smiles!
I remember those days fondly. BTW, what in the world are memes, Gifs and dub hose? These must be either SLC terms or new teenage jargon. Apparently, I am out of the loop. I’ve asked Utah relatives what dub hose are after reading an article about new dress codes for sister missionaries–they aren’t familiar with the term. Also, meemees appear to have something to do with remembering something but I’m not sure whether the term is used only under certain circumstances. Gifs don’t seem to be related to anything yet. Help.
A .GIF is an image file that shows movement, which is shown in all of the “images” in this post. A meme is a picture decided on by frequent use (generally on imgur or reddit) that has text overlayed.
